Bev was quick to respond to my query. Very helpful with information and finding times to get me lessons in my wonky schedule. Good, caring instruction from Charlene. A lot of flexibility with times and locations - and a lot of caring and helpful guidance. And they managed to get me test within a week of me finishing my lessons. Passed the first time. They were great.

Today I passed my driving test and I can’t thank my instructor, Noel enough. He is so patient and helped to make the learning to drive experience calming and helped me to feel confident behind the wheel. Always super positive and really fun person to learn to drive with would highly recommended as an instructor especially if you are dyslexic as he has all the patience in the world to help you learn and to make mistakes and never makes you feel bad about it!

How Much Does a Pass Plus Course Cost in London?

A Pass Plus course in London with Drive Zire costs £270 for six hours of driving with an instructor. There’s no exam at the end, so there’s no test fee. You apply for your certificate yourself from the DVSA once you’ve finished.

Service Duration Price What's Included
Motorway lesson 4 hours £180 Four hours of motorway driving
Refresher lesson 2 hours minimum £90 £45 per hour One-to-one lesson for licence holders

What Is Pass Plus?

Pass Plus is a practical course for newly qualified drivers, set up by the DVSA. It takes at least six hours and covers six modules. There’s no test at the end. Instead, your instructor checks that you reach the right standard in every module.

To take it, you need an approved driving instructor who is registered for Pass Plus. You can read the official details on GOV.UK.

What Does the Pass Plus Course Cover?

The six modules cover the driving the test can’t fully prepare you for. Here’s what each one means for you.

Town Driving in London

London traffic at its busiest. You’ll practise reading busy junctions, bus lanes and cyclists, and planning well ahead.

All-Weather Driving

Rain, low sun and wet roads change how a car behaves. You’ll learn how to adjust your speed and gaps when conditions turn.

Driving on Rural Roads

Country lanes are a shock after London. Think narrow bends, hidden dips and no pavements. You’ll learn to read them safely.

Night Driving

Judging speed and distance is harder in the dark. You’ll practise using your lights well and dealing with glare.

Dual Carriageways

You’ll practise joining at speed, choosing the right lane and overtaking safely on faster A-roads.

Motorways

For many new drivers, this is the big one. You’ll practise slip roads, lane discipline and smart motorway signs. All modules should be practical. Sometimes local conditions mean one is covered in theory instead, for example if there’s no bad weather on the day.

Who Is the Pass Plus Course in London For?

Pass Plus is built for drivers who passed recently. It often suits you if you:

Passed a while ago? Pass Plus can still help, but our refresher driving lessons may suit you better. And if motorways are your only worry, our motorway driving lessons are a shorter option.

Not sure if Pass Plus is right for you? Call 020 3667 3555 and we’ll help you choose.

Does Pass Plus Reduce Insurance for London Drivers?

It might. Some insurers offer a discount to drivers who complete Pass Plus, but not all of them do. To ask for one, you’ll need your Pass Plus certificate.

Our honest advice? Check with your insurer before you book. If they offer a discount, it can help with the cost. But the real value of Pass Plus is the experience you gain, not the paperwork.

How Do You Get Your Pass Plus Certificate?

You apply for it yourself once you’ve finished the course. Your instructor gives you the details you need. Then you contact the DVSA Pass Plus team, and the certificate is sent to you by post.

Nervous Since Passing Your Test?

You’re not alone. Many new drivers feel fine with an instructor, then nervous on their own. Pass Plus is a good way to bridge that gap. We’re nervous driver specialists, so your instructor will go at your pace.

Prefer to learn with a woman? Female instructors are available, so just ask when you book.

Can You Take Pass Plus in an Automatic?

Yes. We teach in manual and automatic cars. So you can take Pass Plus in the type of car you passed in. Just let us know when you book.

1. How much is Pass Plus in London?

A Pass Plus course with Drive Zire costs £270 for six hours of driving with an instructor. There’s no exam at the end, so there’s no test fee. Once you’ve finished, you apply for your certificate yourself from the DVSA Pass Plus team.

Pass Plus takes at least six hours. It covers six modules: town, all-weather, rural roads, night, dual carriageways and motorways. The hours don’t have to be done in one go. Ask us how they can be split around your diary when you book.

No. There’s no exam and nothing to revise. Your instructor assesses you as you go and checks you reach the required standard in all six modules. Once you have, you can apply for your Pass Plus certificate from the DVSA Pass Plus team.

It can, but it’s not guaranteed. Some insurers offer a discount to drivers with a Pass Plus certificate, while others don’t. Check with your insurer before you book, and keep your certificate safe, because you’ll need it to ask for a discount.

Pass Plus is designed for newly qualified drivers, but you can take it at any time after passing your test. If you passed a long time ago, refresher lessons might suit you better. They focus on whatever you want to work on.

Yes. We teach in both manual and automatic cars, so you can take Pass Plus in the type of car you’re used to. If you passed in an automatic, you’ll take the course in an automatic. Let us know when you book.

Female instructors are available at Drive Zire. Just mention it when you book, and we’ll let you know who is available in your part of London. Many new drivers find it easier to relax with an instructor they feel comfortable with.

Pass Plus modules should be practical. If local conditions make one impossible, such as no rain on the day, that module can be covered in theory instead. Your instructor will explain what to expect in those conditions and how to handle them safely.
