Bev was quick to respond to my query. Very helpful with information and finding times to get me lessons in my wonky schedule. Good, caring instruction from Charlene. A lot of flexibility with times and locations - and a lot of caring and helpful guidance. And they managed to get me test within a week of me finishing my lessons. Passed the first time. They were great.Posted on Google![]()

Today I passed my driving test and I can’t thank my instructor, Noel enough. He is so patient and helped to make the learning to drive experience calming and helped me to feel confident behind the wheel. Always super positive and really fun person to learn to drive with would highly recommended as an instructor especially if you are dyslexic as he has all the patience in the world to help you learn and to make mistakes and never makes you feel bad about it!Posted on Google![]()

Most people come back with one or two things that worry them. Tell us what they are when you book, and your lessons can start there. Here are the areas returning drivers ask about most.
Big roundabouts and multi-lane junctions are where confidence often slips first. You’ll practise lane choice, timing and observation until it feels routine again.
London has changed a lot in recent years. There are more cycle lanes, more bus lanes and plenty of 20mph roads. You’ll learn to read them calmly, so they stop feeling like traps.
Narrow streets lined with parked cars are part of London life. A refresher is a good time to practise parallel parking and bay parking without anyone tooting behind you.
Joining fast traffic is a common worry. If it’s your biggest one, our motorway driving lessons give you four hours to build real confidence at speed. If you passed a while ago, the rules have moved on too. The Highway Code was updated in 2022 with a new hierarchy of road users. You can read the current version on GOV.UK.
Refresher lessons are for anyone with a full licence who wants to feel safer on the road. They often suit you if you:
These are driving lessons for qualified drivers, so there’s no test at the end. The only goal is that you feel ready to drive on your own again.

It depends on how long you’ve been away and what you want to work on. Some drivers feel ready after one two-hour lesson. Others prefer a few lessons spread over a couple of weeks. Your instructor can give you an honest view after your first session.
Our advice? Start with one lesson and see how you feel. There’s no pressure to book more than you need.
Yes. We teach in manual and automatic cars, so you can choose. If you hold a manual licence, you can drive both. Many returning drivers choose an automatic because there’s less to think about in stop-start traffic. Read more on our automatic driving lessons page.
That feeling is completely normal, especially after a long gap or a bad experience. We’re nervous driver specialists. Your instructor will go at your pace and start somewhere quieter if that helps. See our lessons for nervous drivers for more.
Prefer to learn with a woman? Female instructors are available, so just ask when you book.
Not usually. Refresher lessons don’t normally lead to a direct insurance discount. Pass Plus is the course some insurers recognise, and it’s designed for drivers who passed recently. If insurance is a factor, check with your insurer before you book.

Refresher driving lessons in London with Drive Zire cost £45 per hour, with a two-hour minimum, so each lesson costs £90. That’s the same price as our standard lessons. There’s no fixed course, so you only book the lessons you need. A four-hour motorway lesson costs £180.
Refresher lessons are for people who already hold a full licence. If you only have a provisional licence, you’ll need standard driving lessons instead. They cost the same, at £45 per hour with a two-hour minimum, and your instructor can start from wherever you are.
Not at all. Plenty of people return to driving after a very long break. Your instructor will start with the basics and build up at your pace. It’s also worth reading the latest Highway Code, because the rules have changed since many people passed.
Yes. Tell us what worries you when you book, whether that’s roundabouts, parking or busy London traffic. Your lessons can start there, so you spend your time on what matters to you. If motorways are the main concern, our four-hour motorway lesson might suit you better.
Yes. We teach in both manual and automatic cars. If you hold a manual licence, you can choose either. Many returning drivers find an automatic easier in London’s stop-start traffic, because there’s no clutch or gears to think about. Just ask when you book.
Female instructors are available at Drive Zire. Just mention it when you book and we’ll let you know who is available in your part of London. Many returning drivers find it easier to relax with an instructor they feel comfortable with.
Refresher lessons don’t usually lead to a direct insurance discount. Pass Plus is the course some insurers recognise, but it’s designed for drivers who passed recently. If insurance matters to you, it’s worth checking with your own insurer before you book anything.
Yes. Even experienced drivers can find London traffic a big change. Bus lanes, cyclists, 20mph zones and busy junctions all take getting used to. A refresher lesson helps you learn the roads you’ll actually use, with someone calm beside you.
